RE: Remember Today
I was stationed at Pearl for 3 years on the USS John S. McCain DL-3 and rendered honors to the Arizona more times than I care to count and was proud of it each time. I also went over to Ford Island a number of times and visited the Arizona... very humbling experience each time.

RE: Remember Today
my Dad was stationed at Scofield barracks from 1959-62, i was 4 then........ memorial didn't exist then, but the Punch bowl cemetery did. I have slides from back then and one of them is Ernie Pyle's head stone, I believe he was one great war reporter back then. Also my dad worked in the same quadrangle that the movie "From Here to Eternity" was filmed.

but a trip to Pearl is on my bucket list.
