and yes kenny .004" not 4 tenths of a thou....

it seems like a lot, but even with me taking off .004. i still had a tolerance fit of .005.... which is a lot.

Wow then there must be some big time variances with crank manufacturer's then. ATI recommends .0007-.001 interference fit(tight) , and yours is still .005 tight after taking .004 out of it ? Dayum!

best to measure your crank and balancer.

Here are the instructions from ATI.

Unless I read the wrong it says 0.0007" roughly nominal depending on crank OD.

Good info in this thread.

That is my plan, to shoot for .0007 t o.001 tight. No need in anything tighter than .001 .

RE: ATI Super Damper
Fuckin Chrysler. Why do those bonehead engineers have to recess the threads in the crank so deep. Morons. Impossible trying to find a tool or threaded rod to install this damn balancer!

I hear ya bud, went thru the same shit! I bought the universal installer kit from Comp Cam's after I called them to verify it would work and they said yes, And once again I will say they are full of shit! Why I ended up making the adapter I posted pics of earlier in this thread. It was a 100% pure retard that came up with the ideal of recessing the threads like they are.

RE: ATI Super Damper
I had to order threaded rod special. No one has 14mm x 1.5 thread pitch. Suppose to get it tomorrow and will finally bolt this bitch on. Now that I know what I am looking at I totally understand the extension you made Kenny. Very cool.

RE: ATI Super Damper
OK last question to you guys using this damper with a Supercharger. New crank was keyed and of course damper is also keyed so I used a 3/16 x 1" key. ATI's website also talks about pinning the crank. I pinned the stock balancer when I first installed the SC 3 years ago since stock 6.1's are not keyed.
Since new crank and damper are keyed I would not think that I need to drill another hole to add a pin to the crank and damper. Gotta believe that the 1" long key and the press fit should be more then enough to prohibit the damper from slipping on the crank. Mani? Kenny? Did you guys add another pin?
